2. Project Summary
EN:
Box of Mercy is a public outreach project initiated by Doninu (Malta) International. It consists of clearly marked donation boxes placed in public, accessible areas (such as libraries, schools, shops, parishes, and community centres) to collect non-monetary essential items—such as clean clothing, toys, books, blankets, hygiene items, and school supplies. These items are then redistributed free of charge by volunteers to people in need across Malta and Gozo.
The project encourages community engagement, solidarity, and sustainability, while promoting a culture of dignity and sharing.
MT:
Il-Kaxxa tal-Ħniena hija inizjattiva ta’ solidarjetà komunitarja imnedija minn Doninu (Malta) International. Jinħatfu kaxxi b’marki ċari f’postijiet pubbliċi u aċċessibbli (bħal libreriji, skejjel, ħwienet, parroċċi, u ċentri ta’ attivitajiet) biex jinġabru oġġetti essenzjali mhux monetarji—bħal ħwejjeġ nodfa, ġugarelli, kotba, kutri, prodotti tal-iġjene u materjal skolastiku. L-oġġetti jinħadmu mill-volontiera u jitqassmu b’xejn lil dawk fil-bżonn f’Malta u Għawdex.

EN:
Box of Mercy transforms the simple act of giving into a daily culture of love. It invites the entire community to contribute—not with money, but with things that matter and touch lives. It breaks barriers of bureaucracy and replaces them with kindness.
MT:
Il-Kaxxa tal-Ħniena tbiddel l-att tat-tajjeb f’kultura ta’ mħabba. Tistieden lill-komunità kollha tikkontribwixxi—mhux bil-flus, iżda b’oġġetti u affarijiet li jagħmlu differenza reali. Tkissir il-ħitan tal-burokrazija u tinbidel f’ġest ta’ mħabba sempliċi.
