Doninu Malta – Our Noble Call

(Anthem of Doninu (Malta) International)

Verse 1
We rise as one with hearts so true,
To serve the weak, the brave, the few.
No coin we seek, no fame, no prize,
But hope and peace in tear-filled eyes.

Chorus
Support with heart, serve with grace,
In every soul, a sacred place.
From Malta’s shores, we proudly stand,
With open hearts and willing hands.
Doninu’s light, forever bright,
A voice for truth, a shield for right.

We walk where others turn away,
Where silence hides what words can’t say.
With kindness pure and duty wide,
We stand for all left cast aside.

Chorus
Support with heart, serve with grace,
In every soul, a sacred place.
From Malta’s shores, we proudly stand,
With open hearts and willing hands.
Doninu’s light, forever bright,

No wealth, no title drives our name,
But love that burns like steady flame.

Listrinu – The All-Year Round Christmas Spirit

Listrinu is Doninu’s cheerful and wise grandfather. Traditionally the symbol of Christmas joy, L-Istrinu used to return to the North Pole every year. But now, he has decided to stay with Doninu all year round because he believes that the spirit of Christmas — love, giving, and joy — should be part of our daily lives. He brings magic and smiles wherever he goes, reminding us that we don’t need to wait for a holiday to show kindness.

Listrinu’s Anthem

(To the tune of a cheerful, march-style melody)

Verse 1
Listrinu is kind and jolly and bright,
Spreading love from morning till night!
No more North Pole, he’s here to stay,
Bringing joy every single day!

Chorus
Not just Christmas, not just snow,
Kindness every day we show!
With Doninu by his side,
Listrinu’s love will never hide!

Verse 2
He gives warm hugs and stories too,
Smiles and songs for me and you!
Every child, both near and far,
He reminds them who they are!

(Repeat Chorus)
Not just Christmas, not just snow,
Kindness every day we show!
With Doninu by his side,
Listrinu’s love will never hide!

Ending
So let’s all sing and clap our hands,
With love that reaches every land!
Listrinu shows us what is true —
That every day, we can be kind too!

The Legend of Listrinu – The Maltese Father Christmas

Many, many years ago, long before the stories we know today, there lived a kind-hearted man — a descendant of Listrinu, the one we now call Father Christmas. What many people don’t know is that the very first Father Christmas to appear in the world was actually Maltese!

This man came from the village of L-Imsieraħ, known today as San Ġwann. He had a pure heart and a simple life, and every year he would bring joy to children and families. He wore a robe made from two Maltese flags sewn together, one red and one white. That’s why, even today, we recognize Father Christmas by his red and white clothes — a tradition that started right here in Malta!

The legend says this all happened during the Cart Ruts era, a time when people didn’t have much, but their hearts were full of love. Even though his costume was poor and plain, the joy he spread was rich and full of meaning.

As time went on, foreigners learned about this beautiful tradition, and they took it with them across the world. The costume changed — it became more rich, fancy, and magical — but the true spirit remained the same: to bring love and happiness to those who need it.

But this year, something very special happened: L-Istrinu decided not to return to the North Pole. Instead, he will stay here in Malta, with Doninu, bringing smiles and love to children and adults all year round!

His message is simple, yet powerful:

“Love should be all year round — not just at Christmas.”
